Car Stereos: amp install, power antenna, antenna wire

I'm trying to figure out where would the remote wire connect to? My amp was already wired but the remote wire was disconnected when work was done on my 99 merc. gm. I know it was connected to one of the fuses in the fuse box inside the car.

Hi Jay,

The remote wire should be hooked up to the deck itself.  The remote wire just acts as a switch to tell the amplifier when to turn on, so it should only be turning on when the deck itself is on.  All aftermarket decks have a remote wire coming out of them for that specific purpose.

If you have an aftermarket amplififer on a factory stereo, then there is a little more work you might need to do -- sometimes the power antenna wire is a good choice.
