Car Stereos: car radio wiring, car radio wiring, broken key

I just want to run a car stereo off a car battery. The car is an old one that will never run again but it also has a broken key in its ignition switch. Can I run wires straight to the battery? I understand long playing will drain the battery but it can be done?

Hi Tim,

Absolutely.  The battery is designed to output 12V.  So youll need to have something to charge it, or it'll just drain the battery and eventually die.  Just connect deck ground to negative, and the ignition as well as constant to the positive on the battery.
