Car Stereos: Nextar works few seconds and no sound, card input, bare metal

Question
I got a Nextar car radio (with the usb & sd card input) 2 years ago and I do all the wiring myself.  Everything works fine until last week.  On the screen everything is ok, their is power, I can change the modes (radio/cd/usb) but no sound get out of the speakers, even at 50.

When I turn it on, sometimes i heard a little noise from the speakers.  And if I'm really lucky I can heard the sound, as if everything works good (up and down the volume) for 10 seconds max.  The sound cut totally and doesn't come back.

Do I need to replace this stereo ?  Do I need to test every wires if their is a  short circuit (and how ?) ?

Thank you very much !

Francois

Answer
Hi Francois,

The stereo working sporadically is usually the deck cutting itself out due to a short or an overheating condition.  Ensure that the speakers are wired correctly and nothing is touching bare metal or another wire.  If everything is clean, you might have a deck that has essentially died.
