Car Upholstery: car upholstery, nissan xterra, car upholstery

Question
We have a leased  2000 Nissan Xterra.  Cloth seats, has a burn (1/4" diameter) through to padding.  Can we repair it?  Is it better to just turn it in and let them charge us or would it be cheaper to have an upholsterer do it?  Thank you!

Answer
Shop around at different shops for the best price and check the dealer for the price of a precut and sewn cover for the seat or back only. I usually charge $20 to replace a panel out of aftermarket material. This will be oem only and will cost more, according to fabric cost. These repairs should take less than 2 hours. I have no idea how the lease company would handle this but I expect a blank check policy (how much can we charge?!!). Hope this helps. Mark.
