Auto Racing: kids and racing, trophy wall, power wheels

Question
OK my husband loves nascar to death. So in turn my kids love it! My daughter is so funny to watch as well as my son. Granted they only use go carts, there bikes, and multiple power wheels. They are great in comparison to all other kids there age, 7 and 4. So my Question is this; Where or how would i start them on a team to learn racing better? Is there anything like that on long island NY. I have looked on the Internet however i really don't know what exactly i am looking for. It is a love i see in them that i think would be a great past time rather than the typical karate and such.

Answer
Hi Jennifer:

First thing to note is that go carting is Go Karting (with a "K")  Then go to Google and plan on spending the day !!  I looked at two VERY appealing sites < www.karts1.com >  and < www.tsracing.com >   There appeared to be opportunities all over NYState, Many in towns I could never SPELL much less pronounce !

Karting is the breeding ground for nearly all motor sports these days, I'm sure your Hubby has heard of Jimmy Johnson. During yeaterdays race out in Calif., they showed Jimmy at age 5 on a Kart. Jeff Gordon also came up from carts and midgets, as did nearly ALL of todays modern pro drivers. This is also true in Indy Car, Formula One, and nearly every other series. l

So for goodness sakes GO FOR IT. I wish I'd had a mom like you! Eest her soul, she wanted me to be a concert violinest !  Take a few pictures of their progresss, and send to < DNLDDY@AOL.com  > I'll
add them to my trophy wall.

Thanks for writing
