Auto Racing: Racing...., mechanic shop, fund managment

Question
Hi,

My name is Alex and I'm 17 years-old.I love cars and racing - rally car in particular. I work as a shop hand at a local mechanic shop but I don't get paid and my parents are unsupportive about my ideas of racing and what not. Therefore, I have no money but I dont want to find another place to work because I'm doing what I love and learning. I try to do anything I can with the small funds I do have and go to the local track or car shows but I want to take it to the next level. I want to get a car I can build or go to racing school. I dont know what I should do - should i try to get into karting, save up for a racing school program, or save and buy a car I can build up.

Answer
karting is fun but it is not like owning your own racing machine... it depends on how much money you can save to spend on your future racing machine vs. karting expences and the fun you can have

it is your decision realy... if i were you i'd save up to get a racing car but have some karting from time to time... basicly it is fund managment and priortizing your needs
