ANSWER: I believe this has been done many times. I would search the net for 460 to 5.0 engine swap and see what comes up. Other than motor mounts, cooling system,exhaust and transmission it should be easy. As for keeping it emmissions legal? Lots of luck!

QUESTION: What type of tranny to you recommend and why is it will I have emmissiions problems? Forgive my ignorance but I've never attempted a Ford project in my life therefore I know nothing about Ford products. I do appreciate such a rapid response.
AnswerThe tranny depends on whether you want a stick or an automatic. The stock T-5 won't handle the torque. As for the emmissions, your 460 isn't going to be compatible with the 5.0 computer. Thats why I recommended the net search for others who have done it so you can see what problems they ran into.
