Auto Racing: Racing, sports car club, bob bondurant

Question
I am 33yrs old female and I would love to start racing.Does anyone have any comments on where to start?

Answer
Hello Mandy

Your question is outside of my expertise of the mental game of racing.

However, I can give you a couple of suggestions.  First, check out the Sports Car Club of America (http://www.SCCA.org) - they have LOTS of different kinds of racing opportunities, from racing solo against the clock to racing other cars.

Second, look into kart racing.  Kart racing is fast, fun and can be a lot cheaper than keeping a race car on the road (but, like any racing, the faster you want to go the more $$ goes into it).  Here are some resources:

If you belong to a car club, they may have a "track day" where they rent a race track and you typically get some instruction in the morning and drive laps in the afteroon.

And, of course, there are some excellent driving schools that can help you get started in the world of auto racing.  Examples are Skip Barber and Bob Bondurant schools.

If after you get started racing you have a question about the mental game of racing, please post it and I'll be very happy to answer it for you.

Good luck and have fun!

David
