Auto Racing: AWD launches, equipment failure, unexpected family

Question
I got a stock B6 S4, and I took it to an empty road to practice some launches because I'm taking it to the strip soon.

It came back frmo the dealership 300 miles ago (it has 33k miles), and I don't know what they did, they didnt tell me. I do know, though, that they changed all the parts in 2nd and 3rd gear beacuse they were desynch'ing. I'm not sure if they changed the clutch, which would suck to launch with an unbroken-in clutch.

Ok so here's my story, I revved it to 3k, dropped the clutch, car bogged down to around 1.5k RPMs, hesitated, and went back up. Thats what i did a couple of times, just dropping it. Which, as you probably know, is horrible for the tranny and.. well everything.

The other night i had revved it to red line, waited for it to go down to around 5k, and the green light hit, and i dropepd the clutch, the car didnt bog, but because I was going at higher RPMs, could it have done more damage to my tranny?

Also, being an Audi... the shifts r exremely long, so i miss shifted 2nd, and it grinded for a second, like pretty much trying to put in 2nd without hitting the clutch..Defenitly burnt some clutch.

Could I have done damage to my gears, clutch, or tranny that would affect me in the future, or present?

Sorry for the long question, thank you.

Carlos

Answer
Any time you do high RPM launches there is always a chance of doing damage. Obviously you are greatly shortening the life of the transmission and components as well. The cost of racing experience is equipment failure and honestly you should expect it to be part of the learning process. Maybe you should get a decent practice car to get more fluid in your movements (IE a cheap civic, neon, etc...)if you can not afford to break the B6. I am sorry for the length of time for my answer I have had unexpected family issues.
