Auto Racing: Window Tint Removal, window tints, sarasota florida

Question
Hello!

I know you are more inclined to answer things about performance but I was wondering if you could give me some tips on how to remove window tints...I got pulled over by the police and basically I have to remove the two front side window tints...the tints are not even a year old on the car so it must come off pretty easily but I do not want to damage anything. Thanks in advance for you help :)

Answer
It happens that my son is in a similar business, vinyl graphics.  You can use a hair dryer to warm it up a little and peel it off by hand, then carefully use acetone to clean the residue. Acetone is highly flammable and very volitile, so don't smoke around it, and leave your cell phone inside the house. Also, make it a two step process, do the removal with the hair dryer, then PUT IT AWAY, BEFORE opening the acetone.

The alternative would be to take it back to the shop that did the application and pay them to do it. And that would be my choice. It is a major pain in the neck cuz the stuff tears and usually comes off in small bits and pieces.

Good luck
