Auto Racing: cheap and easy mods for a 95 mustang, cold air intake, diablosport predator

hi   i just got a 95 mustang about a month ago, needs a little work  but iv got it all figured out. but i was wandering what all i could do to it that will give it hp but not cost me alot? like about $100 or less per part since i dont have alot of money.... i bought a gorillachipz ecu off ebay for $36  supposed to add about 40 hp so  i figured what the heck  ill try it...  was that smart? i was told it has gas struts on it when i got it but honestly, i havent looked... lol

  For $100 per part, there's not much you can do.  Maybe a cold air intake.  That's probably about it.  As for the eBay ECU...I hate to say it, but there's no way it will come close to giving you 40hp.  I think you'd be lucky if it gave you 10hp.  Tuning an ECU is something that really needs to be done on a dyno with a professional using good tuning software.  Chips aren't really ever a "one size fits all" kind of thing.  There are handheld tuners like the Diablosport Predator and others that will allow you to constantly change your tune as you upgrade, but they generally cost around $400 or so (but are a must have for an enthusiast in my opinion).  If I were you, working on a budget, I'd save that $100 per part and slowly work towards some more expensive parts.  An intake, a decent set of heads, a cam...you'd be surprised what you can find for cheap on Mustang websites in their classified sections.  Hope this helps.
