Auto Racing: Octane v, compression ratio, 351c, detonation

Question
I'm building a 351C for my daily driver.  How high can I make the compression ratio and still run well on 93octane Premium pump gas.  I plan to build it with multiport fuel injection.

            Thanks in advance,  AJ

Answer
AJ-

There really isn't much of a way to tell before you get the motor running.  It sort of depends on how high the compression really is.  If it's in the neighborhood or 11.0:1 or so you should be ok with pump gas as long as you don't go nuts with the timing.  You might even be able to get away with 11.5:1.  After that you'll probably need to start pulling timing out of the motor to prevent detonation.  So really it's just all about tuning.  Get it fired up and take it for a drive.  Keep your ears open and if you hear signs of detonation, take it back home and pull a degree or two of timing out.  Hope this helps.
