Auto Racing: engine question (plymouth dodge), mopar chrysler, chevy 350

Question
I was wondering can you build a mopar 340 out of a 318? I was told they are the same block and the transmisions will swap. Kind of like building a chevy 350 out of a 327.

Answer
Probably , if the crankshafts are interchangable. One warning though. Don't believe everything people tell you.  When it comes to cars and modifications, everybody is an expert. And there are experts out there that couldn't check the air in their own tires.

I am not a Chrysler guru, but there will be plenty of information available out there. Do web searches using "Mopar", "Chrysler V-8" and stuff like that.  Once you find out what crank fits which block, start looking around on e-bay for parts. I've found some great values there, and even bought a race car through it a couple of years ago.

Good luck
