Auto Racing: slowing/stopping using stick, stick shift, traffic laws

Question
I'll soon start to drive stick shift which I don't know much a lot of. I know some stuff but still confused about certain stuff. When you need to slow down, using the brake, do you need to downshift? When COMPLETELY stopped, like for a red light/stop sign , or which ever reason, you need to be like just like when you started the car, at neutral, right? What is the slowest speed you can go without stalling out and fastest speed with spinnig the wheels when starting to drive?

Answer
Hi :

You are just learning to drive on the street,  This is not really my area of expertise but I'll try to help.

For now, when you are coming to a complete stop, just depress the clutch, and use the brake until fully stopped.  Soon you will be able to modulate your braking so your approach to the light will be smooth and you will arrive at a complete stop close enough to the next car without being too close.

Then when you think the light will change soon, place the gar lever in low or first, and proceed when it's SAFE

Most cars don't idle well below about 10 MPH (16 KPH).  Wheel spin is caused only by using too much throttle when rreleasing the clutch, it is a 'show off' thing and is very hard on your car. Don't do it.

Always obey all traffic laws including speed limits, otherwise the police and courts will take your license away. Usually for several months.

That's about all I can offer, hope it helps.
