Auto Racing: 120k on 5.0, i have $5500-$6000... choices..., older cars, costs money

Question
Hey,
I figured while i had broken my assurance with asking questions - i'd go ahead and ask you if you thought it'd be necissary to get the car tuned after installing the new engine? because my father and i are planning on doing the install (i hope we can.. i've heard its not terribly difficult, and he's done swaps on older cars so the only worry is electronics) - we can do the timing, fuel pressure, and TPS adjustments... will that be enough you think? or will it be in desparate need of a tune? - ok well after this ill leave you alone lol - very very sorry - thanks so much though for all your help - its been a HUGE help -

Answer
Robert-

It's not absolutely necessary to get the engine tuned, but it's definitely a good idea.  The best way would be on a dyno, but that costs money (usually between $60-$100 per hour).  I don't think you'd have any problem tossing the engine in and running it, but tuning definitely makes a difference.  Hope this helps.
