Auto Racing: the cost of an EFI conversion and other stuff, efi conversion, oil leaks

Question
i am curious as to how much an EFI conversion would be for my stock 1970 307 chevelle mailbu, including installation

additionally, one of the solenoids have been burned off or something. and there are a few oil leaks as well. should i purchase a newer engine or just rebuild the one i have. i would rebuild but some companies say they have long-blocks for only 1500$, shipping included.

also, i was looking into getting better fuel efficiency with a free flowing exhaust and intake, and a better manifold. must i match to the engine size for all three or just the manifold?

what should i do?

Answer
Hi Richard:

I only offer assistance for questions regarding pure race cars,  mostly track racers.  Street vehicles are of no interest to me, and I know very little about them. As an example, we do not use EFI in any of my racing classes.

From what you have written, it sounds like you need some mechanical help.  I would suggest you contact a local perpformance automotive shop ( yellow pages) and visit them for advice and suggestions.

Good luck
