Auto Racing: Building up my car, ford man, new honda civic

Question
Hey, I have just perchaced my new honda civic, and i want to build it up, and boost everything up. Could u suggest how much I need to do it and how much its going to cost? Any sites you recommend will be great. I would like it if i could make it like the ones in the fast and the furious.

Matt-

Let me start by saying that the car in The Fast And The Furious were simply show cars for the most part.  As they say in automotive circles, "all show, no go".  Many of the sounds and exhibitions of speed were exagerrated or just plain faked.  But a car with all the parts they claimed to have would run into the tens of thousands in parts and major body work would set you back just as much (if done right).  For a Civic, I'd first see what type of motor it has.  If it's a B series motor, you're off to a good start.  If it's a D series motor then you'll want to consider a swap to a B series motor like a B16C or B18.  An H22A would be great (the V6 VTEC motor that went into the early '90s Preludes) but I'm not sure how much work would be involved in the swap or if it would even work.  For real power you'd want a turbocharger which would run a little over $3K or so for a good intercooled kit with a decent turbo (like the ones from Greddy) and consider another $1000 at least for exhaust, fuel system parts, and electronics to make everything run as good as it can.  These prices are, of course, without labor charges if you're not doing it yourself and after whatever it cost you to bulk up the motor to handle the extra power.  Being a Ford man, I don't really know specific sites or vendors to go to for Honda parts, but I do slum on a website (www.hondastyle.com) where the people are great and really know their stuff.  They'll know who to buy from and where to get decent prices.  Just a warning...don't mention the fast and the furious around those guys.  From what I can tell they all hated it and feel it stereotypes import tuners in an unflattering way (I, myself found it entertaining in a comical way but still loved the Charger and the turbo'ed RX-7 and Supra).  Hope this helps.
