NASCAR Racing: entering the field of racing, spyder, osu

Question
Hello - I was wondering if you would be able to give any tips to someone who might be interested in racing - his name is Joe, he is age 20, an excellent driver, has always loved cars and knows a lot about them, while in college at OSU he has worked and saved his money to just buy an M3 (had an Eclipse Spyder turbo when he was younger) in order to work on it and learn more, and he would love to try racing, but has no idea how or even if it is possible for the individual guy with no backing to enter the field.  Thank you for your time and any information! Tracy

Answer
Hey Tracy,

All I can say on it is that he could try to talk with some people and start racing at a local short track. Unless he happens to live in North Carolina, where most racing teams are based. But he'd need a lot of experience to be able to get up into the Nascar ranks, because they pour millions of dollars into each team per year, so they want a grade "A" driver.
But practice a lot, and talk with people a lot more!

Sorry I couldn't of been of more help,
Coy Jordan
