Question
When a driver makes a pit stop under green and the caution comes out does the driver have to get to the exit of pit road before the leader gets to the start finish line or does the driver have to beat the leader to the exit of pit road?

Hey Don,

If a car is on pit road and the caution comes out while he is still there, he just has to stay in front of the lead car. Even if he barely stays in front of the leader, he is still technically in position as "last car on the lead lap."

And keep in mind that when they are on pit road, they have the speed limit they cannot exceed until they pass that last yellow line of the road...then they can gas it to try and stay in front of the lead car.
