NASCAR Racing: 1956 Southern 500, darlington raceway, plymouth fury

Question
I have a brass Seventh Annual Southern 500 award (?) pin from Darlington Raceway (Labor Day 1956), with a picture of a Plymouth "Fury" on it.  It is imprinted with the number 421 and also has an off-white ribbon attached to it.  I assume this is an award for placing in this race.  I have a list of drivers in this race, and I'm trying to find out what driver might have received this.  Can you help me or point me in the right direction?  Thank you.

Answer
Couldn't find you an answer on this one. At first, since you mentioned 421 I thought maybe Lee Petty with the #42 and the Pettys being famous for running Plymouths but Lee was running a Dodge that year and didn't run at Darlington. There was no 42 or 421 in the race. The only Plymouth drivers at that race were; Johnny Allen #64, Lou Spears #65, Blackie Pitt #59, Clyde Palmer #30, and Don Oldenberg #40.

Despite my research I was unable to find any reference to the #421 or any medal given out. Don't know anyone to ask about this either. Sorry.
