NASCAR Racing: penalty?, lap nascar, nascar family

Question
QUESTION: Kenseth s two lap NASCAR penalty, like Kyle Petty s penalty inspiring the SABCO earnhartd paint scheme.

How can the NASCAR family glorify the intimidator Black Number three yet still penalize the 17 car for FAR LESS?

Earnhartd wannabe s have strict rules against violent driving tactics, yet NASCAR still glamorizes Dale.

Explain this please, to a NASCAR fan FROM 1991 TIL 1999, NOW a NASCAR critic!!!!!!! Because of this kind of crap.

Kensith penalized, yet Earnhartd glamorized??????????????

ANSWER: Hi Bob,

NASCAR has changed throughout the years, sad to say.  It originally started out as a loosely tied set of rules, which over the years have become more strict.

When Earnhardt was alive he was famous for his "rattle his cage" driving style.  He did it to move drivers out of the way, not to wreck them on purpose.  It was their overreaction that causes the wreck.  Anyway, NASCAR goes on what the driver's intention was.  If they had thought that Earnhardt had tried to wreck him, then they would have and did, penalize him as well.  He also contributed new thoughts and ideas to the sport, which he never feared to stand up at the drivers meeting to state his mind on something.

But with the wrecks, NASCAR goes on an individual basis.
Hope i helped!

QUESTION: Oh, so  Earnhartd overreacted when Mayfield had enough, and finally at Pocono "rattled his cage"? Please read my previouse email.

Following the sport heart and soul from childhood to now nearing fifty. I ve never witnessed more discrace than how NASCAR allowed that thug to disrespect his pears to the point where the sport had to change to disallow his kind of tactics.

Intimidator... nice legacy to be known for..

Took him 20 years to finally win The Daytona, Never won most popular driver until Bill Elliott removed his name from the ballot. Too bad the NASCAR family doesnt get it.

Answer
I send this just a minute or so after replying to your previous email.

If you want to knock Earnhardt, go ahead.  But please do not tell me about it.  I respect Earnhardt and admit that sometimes he did some things that i just did not support.  But calling him a "thug" does not do him justice.

By the way, Earnhardt won the most popular driver award in 2001 when he died.  He deserved to win that award in that year.  It was after the last lap of the last turn of the 500 that everyone reflected on his life, his legacy.  The INTIMIDATOR.

Respect the dead and what they represent...he accepted the way he died.  In fact, if you would have asked, he probably would have told you that a wrecking in a race was the way he wanted to go.
