NASCAR Racing: Attendance/Viewers, nba nfl, spectator sport

I've heard many people say that NASCAR has more attendance a viewers than any other sport.  I've even read it here.  With MLB teams having 162 games a season and 30 teams that works out to be around 2,400 events per season.  I can certainly understand it for any one race, since it is the only sport that has all of their teams competing at once all on the same channel.  In all actuality, I can't even believe that NASCAR has more viewers/attendance in a season than NBA, NFL, or even NHL.  Do you have the numbers per season to campare them?

No, I'm sorry I don't have these numbers but the way I have heard it is "auto racing" is a bigger spectator sport than any other and that for single events NASCAR is far higher than any one event from the other major sports.
