NASCAR Racing: Cup ROY, jimmy hensley, tim flock

Question
No it is not.  Let me ask it a different way.  Who had the greatest ROY in NA$CAR history?  Tony Stewart was hailed as the best, yet Dick Hutcherson was more sucessful in his ROY yet was denied the award do to being a champion from a different series.  Yet this part of history is called 'modern' and TS was a champion from a different series also.  Being this is Allexperts.com, bragging rights depend on your answer...kinda!

Question -
Statistically speaking, who would you consider the best ROY in the history of NA$CAR Grand National/ Cup?
Answer -
I'd have to say Jeff Gordon. The guy's got some amazing stats. Prior to that I always said David Pearson was the man with the stats when you look at Win Percentage, my choice of stat to show who was best. Tim Flock and Herb Thomas had slightly better win percents but had realitively short careers compared to the other two.

Isn't this the same question?

Answer
I should have known better than to get into an "opinion" question. I usually stay away from them.
Technically speaking, the way you are asking it, Tony Stewart would be my choice. You say "ROY" which designates Rookie Of the Year.
Hutcherson never won Rookie of the Year so that makes the choice to be TS.
If you want to say who had the best rookie year (no "of") then I would have to go with Tony Stewart because Hutcherson's rookie year (I always said the rookie year is the first year driving a GN/WC/NC car) he only drove in 4 races with a 2nd and a 5th.
Now if we're talking rookie year by the official Nascar "rookie" year where the driver can drive as many years on the circuit as long as he wants if he doesn't drive more than 5 races in a year (re: Jimmy Hensley 1992 ROY drove 13 years before running for ROY) then yes, I'll go with Hutcherson.
Back to the original question, I got to agree with TS. He was ROY.
