NASCAR Racing: Pricing on collectibles, ballpark figure, wholesale price

Question
I am wonder what the prices on a Dale Earnhardt plate would be I have the plate # 0306E. It's a 1996 Classic Games. Could you please help me?

Answer
I don't do collectibles because there is just too many factors on establishing a price. When you read the "price guides" those prices are never what you will actually get for the item if you sell it. The authors will use some "hedging" by claiming that their price is a "wholesale" price whereas a dealer "never pays" the price, he'll generally pay half of it so he can make a profit.
My best advice: keep watching eBay for one to come up for sale. When it sells you will have a ballpark figure on what it's worth. But having been a collector of memorabilia for the past 20 years I know that on any given day you may get exactly what someone else sold one for recently, you might get half of that, or you might get twice as much. It all depends on how many people want it and how much someone wants to spend.
In other words, there is no way to set a price unless you put it up for auction and take whatever you get.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance. The collecting market is just too volatile to set a price.
