BMW Repair: 318 n reg bmw no air from heater, tim allen, windscreen

Hi - have recently bought the above car and the heater doesnt work at all. The display for the ac and heater works but nothing happens, so cant blow hot air onto windscreen to demist etc.. Fuses look ok would this be the motor for the fan not working or something else?? Where is the fan located to replace and what parts are needed - how difficult is it to do?

Try removing the display unit by carefully prising it out with 2 screwdrivers on either side, unplug the connectors and if the fan starts running, the problem is in your hands and can be repaired.
If it still doesn't work find the motor under the bonnet as far back as it goes and ( this is technical), not so gently, give it a tap with a screwdriver and hammer while its turned on.

Failing that supply power to the motor to see if it works which could indicate that the resistor block has failed, but usually it would work on full power.
