QUESTION: nearside rear door lock jammed shut, how do you open door to get at the lock? BMW central locking 1988 model

ANSWER: The interior panel needs to be removed.

Can you open the door from inside the car?  That will provide you the access to get into the door itself.

QUESTION: Door cannot be opened from the outside door handle, or the inside handle. cant get access to remove the interior door panel, the lock is jammed locked, need to open door to gain access to the lock

Here are my two suggestions.  You have to decide what you will try.

1.  Have someone push against the door from the outside while another tries to open it from the inside.  Push against the door at the location of the latch on the frame, not on the main door panel or near the hinges.  If the door is jammed, this may work.  BE CAREFUL NOT TO DENT THE SHEETMETAL ON THE DOOR.

2.  If that doesn't work, and you need to get the interior panel of the door off, try removing the seat bottom cushion first.  This should give you enough room to get the panel off.
