BMW Repair: Emergency Parking Brake Doesnt Work, bolt holes, lug bolt

Question
QUESTION: I have a BMW 323i and my emergency parking brake doesn't work, when you pull the handle up, the car still shakes. Is it the Emergency parking brake pads or something else?

ANSWER: The emergency brake has shoes which are located under the rear rotors.Your first step is to remove the rear rotor which requires you to remove the caliper from the mount, remove the mount, remove the allen head screw(if there is still one)then the rotor will come off.Once removed inspect the shoes and the adjusting hardware. The adjustment can be made once the adjuster is free through one of the lug bolt holes.Adjust for a slight drag when spinning the wheel. Also check how it feels from the drivers seat to make sure it clicks about 5 times.

QUESTION: I have a BMW 323i and the problem is that when I press the brakes or when I press the speed when I stop at a stop sign. The back of the car makes a "Gut" sound or it sounds like something heavy in the trunk and it is hitting all corners of the BMW Trunk. Could it be the differential or something else? Thank You Very Much.

Answer
It sounds like your looking for an answer that your making hard to diagnose. If you have posi in the rear end it could cause strange noises if it was broken internally. If the shock mounts were totally gone it too would make all sort of noises. All of which are not an easy repair. So it maybe time to take it to a reputable repair center to find out what is causing your problem.
