BMW Repair: Break pad wear sensor., 2000 bmw 323ci, bmw 323ci

Question
I have to change the break pad wear sensor wire in the rear. The indicator warning lamp is staying on. The breaks are new. Will this hurt anything by driving the car with this light on? Was told the only thing it is for is to tell you when the pads have reached their minimun pad thickness. This is on a 2000 BMW 323CI series.Your help would be appreciated. Thank You.

Answer
The indicator is for minimum pad thickness.Although there are many times when the light seems to come on.The light is meant to come on when either the wire is grounded or open.Often the connecters corrode and cause problems. If your pads are ok for the front and rear it maybe just an electrical glitch. It doesn't hurt to drive it.They are just reminders to let you know that the brakes are worn.
