Question
My peake research dianostic tool reads fault codes mixture control idle #1-4,#5-8  misfire cyl#1,#7,#2 ,misfire, random/multiple cylinders ,engine cooling fan control, knock sensor, cyl#1-2, #3-4 , #5-6, #7-8 .I already changed the air mass sensor ,the service engine light came on but i reset it, the car runs ok  but i don"t know what the codes mean help please

Answer
Well it goes to show you that` although you can read the codes, understanding them is a different story. You need to reset the MIL and then find out you problem.Just because a number comes up doesn't mean that part is at fault. You seem to have problems and not knowing the correct fault code make repair difficult. The tool isn't going to fix it! It is just that a tool to help you with the diagnosis.Knowing what you are viewing is also needed.Rest your computer then recheck for codes.
I don't know your scan tool.Having multiple misfires, random misfires, and multiple codes means many things were unplugged when the key was turned on or it has massive multiple problems. When I said to clear the codes it was to start from square one.If the multiple codes appear again then you need to search down the codes to find the fault at hand.
So somebody played under the hood at one time or another and unplugged this and that. You said you replaced the air mass meter...why?Did you unplug anything when the key was on?Does the check engine light still come on? if it does then that is where you start if there is a problem.
Thank you for the wonderful rating you gave me.I have forgot more about any BMW's and cars in general than you will ever know.Having a scan tool doesn't make you an automotive tech.Having those codes a good tech wouldn't have to ask for help. That is what this forum is about, people that know something. So go back to school and learn the basics, beacuase that is what all the codes that you listed should have been checked.
