BMW Repair: E46 heater, adventerous, electronic modules

Question
I have abmw e46 318i 2000 on which i have replaced the FSR which worked for about 3 weeks.
The problem now is that there is no life/pixels on the heater control panel.
I have checked the 3 fuses which are mentioned on the fuse board.
If the resistor has failed again would this cause the problem?
Thanks Gary

Answer
The pixels in BMW's are a long running problem.  But to have all of them out is unusual.

Does the control panel still work?  If so, it's something tied directly to the lighting of the pixels. You've checked the fuses.  Resistor shouldn't impact this. I can't recall if there is a separate light on this unit that displays the pixels, but I believe there is.  If you are adventerous and a do-it-yourselfer, you could take this apart far enough to find the light and see if that is the issue.

If the control panel doesn't function at all, it is either bad or power is not getting to it.  BMW puts fuses inside some of their electronic modules, so again if you are adventerous, you may want to open it up.

Other than that, I'm afraid you're looking at a dealer visit and some big $$ (or check for a used unit on line)
