BMW Repair: power seats, control buttons, passenger seat

Question
wbahd5312pgb34812   Don I recently bought a 1993 525i with 300,000 miles on it.  When I tried to test drive it the seat was all the way forward and would not move with the control buttons.  The previous owner took the car to his mechanic who was able to move the seat a the way back.  I asked what he had done and was told that there was a bad relay or a relay missing.  Can this be true?  If it is, where can I find it to replace it?  I can't find anything in the owner's manual about relays or fuses for the seats.  Also the passenger seat will only recline on one side.  Can you help me?  Paul

Answer
Well I honestly think you've been told a story. There aren't any relays to deal with, the problem probably is wires that are broken or green internally,a very Common problem.Unfortunately it is a time consuming job which entails possibly taking the seats out to repair the wires which go under the carpet.
