BMW Repair: 97 740i, missing mirror cover_noise in dash_faulty digital display, salvage yards, side mirror

Question
1) I've been trying to get a hold of a driver side mirror cover (just the outer plastic cover) for some time now, to no avail. The part that really bothers me is that I know that I saw one for sale for my year and make when I first looked up replacing mine, but since that time have not been able to get ANY hits online or by phone to a number of salvage yards. Any ideas?
2) About half the time I get into my car, no matter what time of day or if the engine is warmed up, there is a strange noise that seems to come from behind the radio/climate control panel in the center of the dash. It almost sounds like a gurgling sound. I know this is extremely vague (especially considering you can't hear it for yourself), but I was hoping maybe you have heard of something like this before.
3) Lastly, my digital display is rather finicky, by which I mean that some of the pixels don't always light up, usually in vertical columns. This includes the "miles" next to the odometer. I know you have answered a similar question to this before but with mine the display has worked 100% at times (like after having a tune-up), but it eventually begins to lose vertical lines of pixels causing more of a nuisance than any real hazard. Also, the pixels will come and go intermittently and without pattern (other than the vertical lines). As in, one day I may be missing two or three lines of my odometer and the next day the odometer may be fine and I'm missing lines from something else.
Thanks for your time

Answer
1)  Try eBay. If nothing, contact a dealer.

2)  The gurgling is water in a drain hose from the A/C.  It can be fixed by doing a reroute of the hose, but it is a job that must be done on a lift.  It doesn't create a problem, so you can leave it alone.

3) Missing pixels are a common problem on these.  It really requires replacement of the unit, and that's expensive.
