BMW Repair: X5 2002 SUV, throttle position sensor, spares inventory

The fail safe engine light comes on and prevents me from accelerating. The service engine light is on at the same time. I have been told that it is 3 things possibly. These were what the codes said:Gas pedal positioning, thermostat housing, throttle position sensor. It comes on sporadically. I can let it sit for awhile and it will go off.Please HELP

Actually, as much work as I do on BMWs myself, I'd take this one to a dealer.  Running on failsafe isn't good, and should be resolved.

having said that......you could clean the connectors on each of the components and see if that works.  But realistically, you're going to be in for replacing parts until it works.  BMW can actually do that cheaper than you can (they can "try" parts, and put them back in their spares inventory).
