BMW Repair: 1994 BMW 325is, snap on modis, code 1a

Question
I recently purchased a sr 300x scanner for BMW's.  I really enjoy to work on my car and it also saves me money.  ANyways, when I plugged the scanner into the diagnostic port it came up with the code 1A which then refered me too the Control Unit Supply.  I read somewhere else that it might be the ECM or computer chip but wasn't to sure about what else it could be. So to final up my question I would like to ask you what exactly is the Control Unit Supply and if the chip was the problem what would be the best chip on the market? (p.s. the more horsepower the better.)

Answer
I am not familiar with the scanner you are talking about.I use a Snap on Modis, which I find outstanding .I use it for all the cars I work on.As for performance you'll want to purchase a chip from Bavarian Motorsports 1-800-535-2002.Its quick and very easy to install. The cost(about 250.00) though may be a little more than you might want to spend but it is well worth it
