Auto Parts: Electrical Problems---2000 Dodge Grand Caravan, dodge grand caravan, radio clock

Question
We have a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan.  About a year or so ago, the display lights would stop turning off when the engine was turned off.  We took it to the dealership, and they said some sort of module needed to be replaced, and repairs would be around $700.  At that time, we weren't financial able to invest that much for something that wasn't causing us too much of an inconvenience.  Now, this is draining the battery and we must jump the van every day when it's cold. Another development---the radio/clock/cassette player stopped working.  Is this all related?

Answer
Hi Jennifer,

Your question(s) are impossible to answer without more information and actually examining the vehicle. Electrical problems can be very difficult to find and repair.

I'm not following the lights turning off with the engine thing? Do you have a digital cluster? Which module did they state was bad?

Obviously the dealership is going to be the absolute most expensive stop you'd make looking for repairs which is why they quoted you so high. Have the vehicle diagnosed by a local, reputable, ASE Technician/shop and I'll try and help you find the parts you need, but that would be about the only thing I could do from where I am.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
