BMW Repair: adjusting camshaft, intake cam, 318is

i own a 1991 318is bmw. i heard its possible to advance the intake cam 6 degrees. could u tell me if this is true and worth the effort? if so, how would you do it?

Leave it alone.

Between the microprocessors and the BMW engineers, you're not going to be able to tweek the intake to improve performance without impacting a lot of other aspects, and likely making it undrivable.

Gone are the muscle car days when an hour with a screwdriver and a cresent would get us better performance!
