BMW Repair: e36 no start, sorry cant, fuel pressure

Question
I have a 1997 328i that will not start. i pulled out the backseat and can hear and feel the fuel pump turning on and working. I also tested the spark plug cables for spark and the plugs are getting spark, the plugs also smell like gas which makes me think that gas is getting to the chamber. What can it be? a friend of mine said to check the cam/crank position sensor where is that and how do i check this? could that be the problem? please help i do not know where else to go from here.

Thanks,
Jeremiah

Answer
You really need to check the basics. spark fuel and air, it sounds like you have spark. because you smell fuel does not mean you have ok fuel pressure you need to now check fuel pressure, If fuel pressure is ok then the next thing todo is see if there are any fault codes in the system.  hope this helps sorry cant help much but i dont have enough info.       Nathan
