BMW Repair: 2000 328ci, airflow meter, accelerator pedal

Question
I have a 2000 328ci I took it through emissions and they said it had a p1519 code that came up.Know it starts and runs fine its just the last couple of weeks it seams like the gas pedal is really hard to push to the floor. I bought a scanner, and it shows a P1519 code. Now its telling me that I have a bad idle valve, but it idles just fine. I googled that code, and everyone is saying its a camshft senser code. Would this code be why its really hard to push the gas peddle?

Answer
You have 2 seperate issues here. At our shop we dont use P-codes our scanner is called a GT1 and use a different system for describing the codes, but if you do have a fault for the idle valve it very uncomon for the idle valve to be bad, what we typically see is a really plugged up air filter or the air filter is so plugged that it destroyed the airflow meter, It is tricky to test the airflow meter without the wright tools but i would check the condition of the airfilter replace it then get the fault cleared out of the DME and drive the car for three driveing cycles then you should be able to pass emmissions. These cars are very technical and they require allot of special tools so its difficult to give you good advice with out having the car infront of me.   Thanks Nathan          P.S.  the accelerator pedal being stiff is a different issue
