BMW Repair: BMW trouble code, 2004 bmw 325i, bmw dealer

Question
Hi, I have a 2004 BMW 325i wagon, purchased used from a non-BMW dealer.  Today, the check engine light came on and the non-BMW dealer tried to retrieve the code to make a warranty repair.  He stated the code was "OX2774" and couldn't find any reference for it.  He sent me off to the BMW dealer.  Is the code a legitimate one as I couldn't find any reference to it either. If it is a good code, what does it refer to?  The BMW dealer is busy for the next few days and can't get to the repair until next week and we would like to drive the car for the week-end.

Thanks, John

Answer
I too am unfamiliar with that number,I have not seen it before but yet scanners are all different.I know its shocking to see but if the light isn't flashing it could wait a few days.If the light is flashing it means it is a cat damaging fault, which is pretty bad(plugs, wire, coil could be anyone)So if it isn't flashing and the car operates as it should it may be a fault that may be easily fixed.I would clear the code and see if it came on again then I would compare the readings from the previous scan to see if the codes were the smae then diagnose it from there.
