BMW Repair: 318i wont start, high pressure hose, bmw owner

Question
Hi Josh, I am a new BMW owner. I have just bought a 1984 318i 2 door 5 speed. I got it home OK, washed the motor carefully to get some grease off, and now it wont start. I have full dash lights, but no cranking. dead. I have checked all the electrical connections, in case i blew them off with the high pressure hose, and all looks OK. I can hear a click from the relay box but the car just wont turn over. car ran fine before the engine clean. I'm at a loss. Can you help!!

Answer
Richard,
sounds like you got water in the starter or the solenoid or some thing, because it should at least turn-over, regardless of whether it starts or not.

I would park move it to a hot/sunny area and let the heat evaporate some of that moisture.  Hopefully it will work again.

If not, you are going to have to get the engine cranking again, so work on the starter first.

 Hope this helps,
 Josh
