BMW Repair: BMW 318ti 98 sunroof opened -wont close, bmw 318ti, window switch

Thanks for taking the time for this.  My sunroof is open and won't close back.  When I push the side ofthe button to open it I hear the motor running but when I push the close side I hear nothing.  I have noticed over the years that the open side has gotten progressively slower. HELP

To get it closed pop off the panel surrounding the switch and use the allen tool in your tool kit to manually turn the motor and close the roof. As far as the roof not closing it sounds like the electronics in the motor have failed but it may be the switch. You should hear the motor run in both directions. I don't know of any common problem that would cuase your complaint, so you may have to take it in to the dealer. I think your sunroof switch might be the same as your window switch so you try swapping them but the motor is expensive so I don't want you to just put one in.
