BMW Repair: Z3 coupe window does not drop when opening door, white lithium grease, door latch

Question
My Z3 coupe window is supposed to lower slightly when the handle is pulled,
and then slides back up when the door is closed. Now, it stays all the way up, so
when I open the door the window has to pop out from the gasket, and stays
outside the gasket when I close it. Someone told me there is a switch that needs
to be lubed, but I don't know how to access it. Thanks.

Answer
John, with the outside door handle pulled work the door latch with a pen or pencil or the like, if it is sticking or doesn't move smoothly use some WD-40 to clean it while operating the latch. WD-40 has high solvent content and is a poor lubricant. So when it is clean then use some Silicone spray or the like. I don't like White Lithium grease cause it gets yellow and hard over time. See if that works. If the door latch/lock hall sensors are the issue.
