Radio plays sometimes when slowly turn the key. The Instrument panel lights up and that’s all starter wouldn’t turn over.
Also airbag light stays on
Thank You Please advise

Answer
Chet, sounds like the classic failing electric portion of the ignition switch. On the left side of steering column. Switch has a big multiwire connection on it. You need to remove the red or yellow paint covering the retaining screws and unscrew them to remove the ignition switch after you have the steering column covers off. This requires taking the steering wheel off. Which in tern requires removing the airbag. Always disconnect airbags with the ignition off or battery disconnected. Use BMW part number 61 32 6 901 961 or newer. There are many step by step instructions on how to do this on enthusiast websites with pictures. Very common problem with E38, E39, and E53 vehicles.
