BMW Repair: e36 M3 elctric seat, drive cables, electric seat

Question
The horizontal motor on the electric seat has died.  (The one that slides the seat backwards and forward). I have purchased the replacement motor BUT I can't access the rear bolts to remove the drivers' seat. My question is how do you move the seat backwards and forwards without power OR is there another way to get to the motor? Thanks in advance

Answer
Steve, try tapping on the motor with a metal object while pressing the seat button. Seat motor is held on by three screws. You may have to yank the drive cables out that go into the motor to move it forward to access the bolts. The cables are flexible. You may have to cut them. That is the only idea I can think of. Raise the seat up to give yourself the most room.
