BMW Repair: Brake Pad indicator light, e46 bmw, brake rotors

Question
I just bought BMW ;have 33K miles on the car; the brakes needed replacement in the rear - I'm second owner. I replaced the pads with lifetime Bendix brand but the light won't go off. How do I reset brake pad light? Thanks

Answer
The brake wear sensor must be replaced. Make sure your brake pad has the recess to accept the clip in wear sensor on the inner Right rear brake pad. Check some E46 BMW enthusiast sites for pictures if you are unsure. After replacement of wear sensor, leave key on and engine off for a couple minutes and the light will go out. Make sure your Brake rotors are above Spec. They usually only last one pad life.
