BMW Repair: DSC ABS and BRAKE light stays on, programming equipment, angle sensor

Hello Evan
This problem started about six months ago; the DSC  ABS and BRAKE light stays on.  In the beginning the light flickered on and off but now it remains lit(amber)
The left front caliper was replaced.  I was told it could be one of the following; steering wheel sensor, ABS control unit and the axle sensor.  It is very expensive to repair all at one so I want to be certain where to begin. It is a 2001 X5 with 119000 miles.

Steve replace the steering angle sensor first and have it coded and calibrated by the dealer or dealer style coding and programming equipment. This is most common and you should start here. Then procede with further diagnosis if your issue persists. Keep in mind you may have more than one issue. Hard to tell sometimes.
