BMW Repair: BMW 2002 330Ci will not start, starter solenoid, bmw 2002

Question
Evan - Car sat idle for 6 weeks while I was away.  Went to start and battery was completely drained.  Charged battery and got power back to lights/locks/radio/etc.  BUT...now car will not start anyway.  When I turn the key there is a rapid clicking sound.  I thought maybe the starter or alternator?  Can you help narrow problem?

Answer
Brian the rapid clicking you hear is the starter solenoid engaging the starter pinion. You still don't have enough battery voltage to crank the engine over. Charge the battery for longer or jump start it from the under hood posts and go for a long drive (20-40minutes) with little or no accessories to charge the battery. You may want to have a Closed Circuit Current Draw test done to see if your car is drawing too many amps at rest and to correct any undervoltage faults.
