BMW Repair: Central Locking, trunk latch, problem areas

Question
When I open the boot with either boot handle, remote or or underdash switch occasionally the trunk will not lock down & I have to click the remote again or use the key to reset the lock. Also the remote for the door doesn't always open or lock down the door on the first click. The second click does. This again like the boot is intermittent. Finally the car seems to have rattles on the right hand rear side & I cant work out what they are are there any problem areas with the 2001 Ci Convertible that you know of ?


Answer
I would try cleaning and lubeing the trunk latch while manually operating with key so the latch can move. If this doesn't work replace the latch/lock actuator assembly. The unlocking with the remote maybe the button on the remote fob wearing out. Try to use the other master key fob and see if problems continue. If after this both issues persist then replace the General Module (controller of central locking) and have it coded by the dealer.
