BMW Repair: BMW 1999 front directional signal, screwdriver, hook

Question
How is the front directional signal lens cover removed? The owners manual metions releasing a hook nothing specific.

Not sure why you want to take the lens cover off, but if you just want to change the bulb, you do that from the back with the hood open.  It is very crowded, but you can do it.  If you need to take the lens cover off for another reason, it is also from the back, but you may need to take the front grill off.  That does have a hook to release it.  It is weird, but next to the lens cover between the headlight (of course this is on the 86 through 95's).  Not sure if it is the same on a 99.  There is what looks like a small half circle where a long screwdriver will fit down (to the bottom next to the top of the bumper) and push on a release that releases the grill.  Sorry, if the 99 doesn't match this.  Hope this helps with finding how it does work.
