BMW Repair: Falty BMW E46 passenger power window, bmw e46, loose connections

Question
Hi, I have a BMW E46 325Ci which I love, but at 80k I am starting to have some problems.  Latest being the Passenger window.  It won't work properly at present I am no using it.  I don't think I can afford to pay a mechanic for his time (whom I would rather have fix this). So is this something that a semi mechanically inclined individual could take on. I have only been able to find an article:Power Window Failure 1993 325is which is not an E46. So what is your take?

Answer
I am sorry, I am only a semi-expert on E34's from 1989 through 1995, as that is what I work on the most.  I haven't even had to work on any windows with those yet, so I can't say for sure.  Just guessing, (always start with small steps so as not to mess things up too bad, I have learned this the hard way), I would start by finding the switch first and see if it has any loose connections (easiest steps first as well).  If all is well there, I would try to find the motor and make sure all connections look good there.  Try and watch it with the inside door cover off and see if you can identify anything that doesn't look right.  If all else fails, you should be able to tell if the motor doesn't sound right by comparing the sound of one side to a good side.  Then you will know if you need to replace a motor.  On other vehicles I have replaced motors they are usually two to three bolts and the connectors and that is all.  Not sure if that helps, but that is in general how I would approach it.    Good luck.
